The days of suits and ties have long since given way to slacks and sport shirts since Lou Pagnini opened David Louis Clothiers in 1979. “Business attire is much different these days and a lot of guys don’t really know how to dress for business casual,” Pagnini says, “often they end up looking or feeling out of place.”

No stranger to the industry, Pagnini was indoctrinated at the age of 15 while working at Tito’s, a men’s clothing store located in Martinez. Out of high school, he went to work for Roos Atkins and after several years as a buyer, launched David Louis Clothiers.

The store, originally located in the Alamo Plaza Shopping Center, moved to Danville’s J. Hettinger Plaza, where it’s been since 1985.

Pagnini frequents the clothing markets to keep up on the latest trends for men. Helping customers create a look that works for them is one of the things Pagnini enjoys most. Being comfortable whether it’s in a sport jacket and tie or a mock turtleneck and slacks is essential.

As buyer for the store, Pagnini always chooses quality clothing, which is why you’ll find lots of European imports designed to add a classic look to men’s wardrobes. Once the foundation is laid, you can show lots of individuality with custom shirts, ties, shoes and other accessories.

What if your wardrobe needs a complete overhaul? Pagnini will do a closet consultation to weed out what’s outdated, worn out or doesn’t fit properly.
